The Hiyu once ferried passengers across the Puget Sound, but now has a new life as a Seattle’s premier floating event, wedding and venue space. SML was tasked with designing and building a functional bar, dining table, and signage for one of the Hiyu's bars, The Salish Room.
The Salish Room is The Hiyu's Northwest Maritime Whiskey Bar. It is decorated with warm, inviting colors and trimmed with mahogany wood accents. SML wanted to extend this aesthetic throughout the furniture and signage. We used the same mahogany wood for all the hard goods, and etched a background design of topography from Point Defiance (The Hiyu's original ferry route!) on the signs welcoming passengers to the bar.
The end results are beautiful, but we encourage you to see it for yourself! The Hiyu is available for Private and Corporate events, and Weddings. You can learn more on their website onthehiyu.com. Last photo below is by © 2019 Molly Blair Photography.
